This year's PSSA testing schedule has been set. These assessments are very important tools that are used to assess our students, our programs, and our curriculum. We are working hard to be sure that your child is prepared to do their best on these tests. Please help your child to be ready for the PSSA tests by not only making sure that they get plenty of sleep and have breakfast before testing, but also by encouraging them to take their time and give their best efforts. Some children start guessing as they get tired of the testing - which lowers their scores. Help your child prepare for this and remind them to keep trying, even though they may be tired. Our children have made huge gains at Pleasantville this year - let them know taht the PSSA's are an opportunity to show how much they know, and to celebrate their success!

Titusville Area School Superintendent Karen Jez was recently honored at the Pennsylvania Middle School Association Annual Conference for her outstanding contributions to the organization and her commitment to middle level education. Jez received the award at the conference banquet held at Penn State University.
Jez was the recipient of the William Alexander Award, which is presented at the discretion of the PMSA president, to an individual who has made a significant, positive contribution to mid-level education to the state of Pennsylvania.
In making the presentation of the plaque, PMSA President Paul Meck said, “To say that Karen Jez supports middle level education has always been an understatement. She truly lives by the motto ‘Do what is best for the kids.' Karen was hired as an assistant principal in 1996 and soon became middle school principal in 1998, where she was instrumental in leading the development of a middle school program for a newly-constructed school building, which opened in 1999. The school has since become a model for middle schools across the commonwealth. Teachers and administrators continue to visit Titusville Middle School, looking for innovative programming and ideas.
