The Titusville Area School District will be participating in the Communities That Care: Pennsylvania Youth Survey. This survey is designed to assess specific characteristics of the school and community environments that may be associated with alcohol, tobacco and other drug use. These characteristics are called risk factors and protective factors.
Risk factors are characteristics that are known to increase the likelihood that a student will engage in one or more problem behaviors. For example, in communities or families where there is acceptance or tolerance of drug use, students are more likely to engage in ATOD use.

The Titusville Area Hospital in collaboration with the Titusville Area School District will be offering our students the Flumist H1N1 intranasal vaccine on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm at the Titusville Middle School. Vaccinations will be administered on a first come first serve basis. A limited supply of the injectable vaccine will be available for those students who have a medical condition that prevents them from receiving the intranasal vaccine. Medical conditions will be assessed as a part of the registration process. Permission forms and other informational paperwork will be provided at the time of registration. Please visit the school district website for further information.
In related news, the school district has been approved to place its order of injectable H1N1 vaccine. A significant supply of the vaccine was ordered through the PA Department of Health website this past Monday. The district does not know if or when the order will be processed. The Department of Health is stating that there is still no guarantee that the order will be received. However, in the event that the district does receive the vaccine, flu shot clinics will be scheduled as soon as possible for both students and staff who would like to be vaccinated.

Students in Señora Van Alstine's Spanish III class just finished their projects for The Day of the Dead - El Día de los Muertos. Their situation was to be working for a travel magazine and writing an article in Spanish to describe this interesting and beautiful Hispanic Holiday. As you can see by clicking in our gallery of pictures of the event, the student work was excellent.
¡Los proyectos son excelentes!
¡Gracias Señora Van Alstine !
